The goal of the ACP Open Education Resource (OER) Development program is to foster the creation of free digital content for children that can be rapidly customized for use in different cultures.
The program is an expansion of an Application Development program that we started in 2014. We began internally developing basic letter and word recognition applications for use on mobile devices running the Android operating system as a result of lessons learned in our Technology Integration into Developing Country Classrooms.
From that simple start, we branched out to doing curriculum development, de-codable books, and gaming style applications for education. We have started a Development Intern Project at ESIH in Haiti where interns are now creating new content. We are working to expand this program into other countries.
