Detailed Information

Reading with Relevance is a supplemental program designed to increase equity in culturally diverse classrooms. Certified by the Center for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), the innovative curriculum seamlessly integrates authentic learning with academic instruction, providing a platform for understanding different perspectives and experiences.

Reading with Relevance marries popular novels like Esperanza Rising, The Hate U Give, and The 57 Bus—all selected for their relevant and engaging social and emotional themes—with a structured Teachers Guide that provides instructors with a roadmap for exploring these topics in their classroom community. From navigating friendship and persevering in the face of obstacles to more mature topics, like structural racism and poverty, Reading With Relevance provides a platform for students to safely think, discuss, and deepen their understanding of a variety of relevant SEL topics, all while building their literacy skills.

With flexible, end-to-end implementation support, bringing SEL to students quickly and cost-effectively is possible using Reading with Relevance.
