Five years ago, I created a prototype of the Einstein Dollar to use in my classroom as part of a lesson intended to introduce students to the concept of a conserved quantity (money). The students were abuzz with excitement – the Einstein Dollar was an immediate hit!
Given the positive feedback of my students and colleagues, I decided to explore the possibility of using the Einstein Dollar as a tool of positive reinforcement in the classroom. I subsequently spent an entire spring break perfecting the design of the Einstein Dollar. When we returned to school, I re-introduced the Einstein Dollar as a means of extra credit in the classroom.
