The University of California, Irvine is a sustaining member of the Open Education Consortium (formerly the OpenCourseWare Consortium).
The University launched its OpenCourseWare initiative in November 2006. Since then, it has rapidly grown to become one of the premiere sites in the United States. Today, its YouTube channel, is viewed more than a million minutes per month. Its OpenChem project contains video lectures and additional material for nearly all the courses needed to complete an undergraduate chemistry degree.
