Although there are many different types of animals on Earth, many of these animals have lots of things in common. These same animals may also have many things that are different. In comparing animals we can look for things that are the same, and things that are different to help us understand how these animals are related to each other. We can also use these comparisons to help us understand how these animals are related to their environment. Here a two simple examples of animal comparisons on the land, and in the sea.
